It consists of 13 projects that aim at:

• improving market infrastructure
• diversifying and growing market opportunities
• reducing the costs of bank products and services
• enhancing tools for monitoring financial stability

The projects are proposed by authorities and market participants, screened by the SPI Secretariat to achieve a reasonable balance between public objectives and private benefits and endorsed by the SPI Committee. Click here for more information

The SPI Committee has approved the Program 2008 consisting of nine new high priority projects in its March 12,2008 meeting.

The Romania financial sector modernization program promotes regulatory and market solutions to expand the supply of financial products, reduce their costs and improve consumer protection, in line with EU directions.Click here for more information

As of June 30, 2008 the Convergence Program's residual involvement in support of SPI Romania has concluded.The Romanian Banking Institute is now fully responsible for the operation and financing of SPI Romania.
